Visitors Not Converting? Solve With Landing Page Personalization
Your page shows every visitor the same thing. Most of the time that's fine. But somewhere in your traffic there's probably a group that isn't responding the way everyone else does: mobile visitors dropping off while desktop converts, or paid social clicks leaving faster than your search traffic.
Personalize finds those groups for you and helps you show them a version of the page that works better for them. Same page, same URL, no extra pages to build.
If personalization sounds like a big project, this one isn't. You don't start from a blank list of segments. Leadpages only recommends an audience when your data says it's worth your time, and it writes the first draft of the new copy for you.

Here's Personalize running end to end
How it works, in seven parts
01: Set a conversion goal
Personalize lives in the Optimize panel. Open it from the toolbar at the bottom of the editor, then go to Experiments.
The first thing you'll see is your conversion goal, like a form submit or a button click. That's how Leadpages knows what "working" means for this page, and you'll need an active goal before you can personalize anything. Once it's set, click into Personalize.
02: Review the audiences Leadpages recommends
You don't have to guess who to target. Leadpages watches your traffic and only recommends an audience when a group is converting meaningfully worse than the rest of your page, because that's where changing the content pays off.
It looks at three things:
- Device: what people are browsing on.
- Source: where they came from, like search, paid ads, social, or AI assistants like ChatGPT.
- New or returning: whether they've visited before.
A group also needs at least 100 visitors in the last 30 days before it shows up, so you can trust that the difference is real and not just noise.
03: Or describe your own
Have a hunch about a group that isn't on the list? Describe it in plain language, like "mobile visitors coming from paid social" or "first-time visitors from ChatGPT."
The same rules apply. It has to be big enough and underperforming enough to be worth your time.
04: Pick what to change
Choose an audience, then choose which parts of the page to change for them. Most people start with the big ones: the headline, the call to action, and the subheadline.
You don't need to change everything. A better headline for the right people goes a long way.
05: Review the variants
Leadpages writes a new version of each element you picked, for that audience. Your mobile visitors might get a shorter, punchier headline that's easier to take in on a small screen.
Read through it and tweak anything that doesn't sound like you. It's your page. The AI just gives you a head start.
06: Start it and watch the results
When you're happy, start personalization. Visitors in that audience see their version, and everyone else sees your original page.

Open the A/B Test CalculatorThe panel switches to a results view that shows how the audience is performing against your conversion goal. While it's running, everything's locked so your data stays clean.
07: Pause when you want to change something
Pause it, edit your copy, and hit resume. The data you've already collected stays put, and it picks right back up.
Let Auto mode handle it
If you'd rather not do any of this yourself, turn on Auto mode. Leadpages picks the content, writes the variants, and tests them for you. Auto mode is available on the Optimize and Scale plans.
If you don't see any audiences
An empty list is usually good news. It means everyone's converting about the same, so there's nothing to personalize for. We'd rather show you nothing than send you off doing busywork.
Audiences also need a little data. Your page has to be published and getting conversions so there's something to compare against. As your traffic grows, audiences show up on their own. You don't need to turn anything on.

Why we built it
One page has to work for everyone who lands on it, and it rarely works equally well for all of them. A page that converts on desktop can lose people on a phone. Copy that lands with search traffic can miss with someone who clicked through from social.
Building a separate page for every group isn't realistic, and guessing which group needs one is mostly busywork. Personalize finds the gap in your own traffic first, then helps you close it on the page you already have.
What stays in your hands
- Who you target. Pick from the recommended audiences or describe your own.
- What changes. You choose which elements get a new version.
- The words. Every variant is a draft you can edit before it goes live.
- When it runs. You start it, pause it, and resume it. Auto mode is there if you'd rather hand the whole thing over, and turning it on is your call.
Common questions
Which plans include Personalize? Grow, Optimize, and Scale. Auto mode is available on Optimize and Scale.
Do I need a separate page or URL for each audience? No. It's the same page and the same URL. Visitors in the audience see their version, and everyone else sees your original.
What do I need before I can start? An active conversion goal, like a form submit or a button click, set in the Optimize panel under Experiments. For audiences to show up, your page also needs to be published and getting conversions.
How does Leadpages decide which audiences to recommend? It looks at device, traffic source, and new versus returning visitors. It only recommends a group that's converting meaningfully worse than the rest of the page and has at least 100 visitors in the last 30 days.
Can I target an audience that isn't recommended? Yes, you can describe one in plain language. It still has to be big enough and underperforming enough to qualify.
Can I edit a variant while it's running? Pause it first, edit your copy, then resume. The data you've already collected stays put.
Why is my audience list empty? Usually because everyone's converting about the same. It can also mean the page isn't published or getting conversions yet. Audiences show up on their own as your traffic grows.
